SEY's volunteer animal welfare inspectors
In Finland the official animal welfare authorities, veterinarians, police and healts inspectors, are carrying out animal welfare inspectors.Howeverm the authorities have a lot of work to do and can not cover all the animal welfare cases. The input of volunteer animal welfare inspectors is very much needed. The inspectors do this important work on their free-time and SEY can not afford to pay them a salary.
SEY inspectors investigate cruelty complaints, give help and advice on animal care and inspect animal establishments. SEY inspectors are not the authority and they do not have rights to take away the animal from the owner. If the inspectors notice animal cruelty, they will contact the auhtorities who will then step in and start the process of rescuing the animals and possibly prosecuting the perpetrators
